We now stock Turtle Bags!! Since 2001 Turtle Bags have been a positive force in the fight to reduce the use of plastic bags in everyday life. Plastic bags cause real problems on land but most recently the awarenesss of plastic in the marine environment has been getting more and more press coverage. Our oceans and its amazing inhabitants are in real trouble, not just because of overfishing and climate change but also because of all the plastic which is ending up in the sea. We have attached an image of plastic bags that were found in one Whale's stomach when the mammal washed up in Norway. So sad and unnecessary.
We can all do our bit though by reducing our use of plastic. Turtle bags are a good start...these classic organic cotton string bags are naturally super strong, taking up to 40kg of groceries. When empty they take up almost no space, making them ideal for popping inside your pocket, glove compartment or handbag. You've just got to remember to take it with you!!
Turtle bags are fairly traded too - the company is a member of BAFTS (The Bristish Association of Fair Trade Shopes and Suppliers) so ensuring the producers in Bangladesh are treated fairly.
